Super simple diet meal plans have become essential for me.
Its tough to find time to workout these days. Its even more difficult to cook a decent meal and consistently eat healthy. A full time job, the stresses of being a new parent, and a high maintenance, yet loving dog are keeping my wife and I busy. Its been difficult to eat healthy, quick, and convenient meals so I've streamlined that process as much as possible and wanted to share it with you.
If you're looking for quick and healthy meals here are some options. Keep in mind this isn't a very comprehensive or long list, just some things that I use as a quick fix when there's no time to cook (which is often these days).
These have become very popular at our place. The steamfresh vegetables by Birds Eye are great. They offer a good variety of vegetables, including some mixed vegetable options too like brown and wild rice with broccoli and carrots. The best thing about this product is that you simply cook the vegetables in the bag in the microwave. It literally takes about 5 minutes.
I'm always cautious about sodium content with frozen products, including vegetables. However, these contain very little if any sodium. I'm obsessed with the convienence of this healthy product and if you're looking for a quick healthy option, definitely give these a try.
Salads should be a staple of any super simple diet. The best thing about these salads is that they take less than five minutes to make. All you have to do is open the bag, pour it in a bowl, add the toppings, and that's it!
I'll often add peanuts, cashews, or chicken to get a little more flavor, but the salads by themselves are just as good. One downside is that the dressing will add a little more sodium to the meal, but I don't think it enough to do serious harm to your diet. If its too much, either don't use the dressing, or use half the package.
I was skeptical of Shakeology at first. However, after trying it I learned that Shakeology is one of the best meal replacements available. It not only provides you with protein, and quality calories, but it is a low
glycemic index food with all natural ingredients.
The natural ingredients separate Shakeology from all the other protein powders/meal replacements on the market. Pick up any protein supplement at GNC, look at the ingredients, and you'll notice a long list of unnatural (chemical) substances.
After several years of taking protein supplements and meal replacements, and choosing the cheapest option, I
decided to do something different and try Shakeology. Its probably one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive supplement on the market, but ultimately you get what you pay for.
I never felt stomach discomfort after using Shakeology which is very uncommon for protein supplements. I have more energy when I use Shakeology, I recover faster from difficult workouts, and I tend to stay fuller longer with Shakeology than other supplements. I simply don't get hungry as fast as I do with other protein supplements.
It is now a staple of my diet along with the other options I listed above. Shakeology gives me the protein I need when I don't have time to cook protein based meals like chicken or fish. And it also gives me the nutrients and energy I don't get from other parts of my diet.
This list is by no means extensive. Its simply a couple things I now use to supplement my diet when I don't have time to make a meal. They are great by themselves, especially if you don't have time to cook, or they are good with large meals too. You can use them as a side or use them as a meal.
The thing to remember is that they low cal, low sodium healthy options. In a world of fast food and processed food, these are great alternatives.
